If you do not have dental insurance, you are in good company. Plenty of the Arlington Heights & Rolling Meadows families we see are self-employed, retired, between jobs, or simply work somewhere that does not offer a dental plan. The problem is what tends to happen next: people put off checkups, small problems quietly grow, and by the time they come in, the fix is bigger and more expensive than it needed to be.
It does not have to work that way. Here is an honest look at your options.
Why waiting costs more than going
This is the part most people underestimate. A small cavity caught at a routine checkup is a simple filling. Left alone for a year or two, that same tooth can need a root canal and a crown instead. The difference in cost is not small, and neither is the difference in how your day goes.
Preventive care is genuinely the cheapest dentistry there is. Two cleanings and exams a year catch the things you cannot see or feel yet, which is exactly when they are easiest to handle.
Option 1: An in-house membership plan
This is the route most of our uninsured patients choose, and it is the simplest. Instead of paying an insurance company, you pay the practice directly for a plan that covers your routine care.
Our in-house membership plan starts at $29 a month and includes:
- Two professional cleanings a year
- Two regular exams
- Routine X-rays
- Two emergency exams
- Up to 20% off other treatment done at our practice
There are no claim forms, no deductibles, no waiting periods, and no annual maximum. We also offer a family plan covering two adults and a child, and a version that includes teeth whitening.
The math is worth checking. For many people, the cost of a membership plan is close to what they would have paid out of pocket for two cleanings and exams anyway, and the discount on other treatment is the part that saves real money.
Option 2: Financing for larger treatment
If you need something bigger, a crown, implants, or several treatments at once, financing lets you spread the cost into manageable monthly payments rather than paying it all at once. We review every cost with you upfront so there are no surprises, and you can learn more on our financing and insurance page.
Option 3: Start with the new patient special
If you have been away from the dentist a while and just want to know where you stand, our new patient special covers a complete exam, X-rays, and a cleaning for $99. It is a low-pressure way to get a clear picture of your dental health before deciding anything else.
The honest advice
Whichever route makes sense for you, the important part is not letting the lack of insurance turn into years without a checkup. Come in, let us take a look, and we will tell you honestly what needs attention now and what can wait. No pressure, and no judgment about how long it has been.
